I know everyone has looked at the Visa Bulletin. Here is a quote from it-
2. Section 201 of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) sets an annual minimum family-sponsored preference limit of 226,000. So, don't you guys think that there more than 140,000 visas can be given away, if need me as it is this moment. So, I don't understand the retrogression???

As I understand we (i.e IV) has 21000 members and 14000 active members. If even each active member contrubute $ 20 per month, that would be $ 420,000 per month or about $ 5 Mn per year.
Imagine the miracles that we can do with that kind of fund!! And I am damn sure that we can afford $ 20 per month. Cost of few gallons of gas per month.
Non contributing, active members! Please wake up atleast now and do some soul searching!!!

Dear members,
It is time now to do a massive mother of all media campaigns and inform every reporter, TV station, Radio station, Magazine and newspaper in this country about the rally.
We start this campaign now and we will continue it until Monday. Media publicity is very important for the success of the rally. IV is already doing an email campaign to hundreds of immigration reporters today. (Ps.This list was compiled by few IV volunteers from various forums and threads. It will not be made public. So if you have any such list do not post on IV.)
Here is what we want everyone to do:

I keep reading we should fight for out rights and all. I am just curious
where does it say if on is on H1B or F1, he or she has a right to get a GC. GC or citizenship is a privilege, we cant demand it or force someone to give it to us. Its a simple demand and supply situation, there are more visa seekers then there is availability and therefore there is a waiting period. i am not sure why we don't accept the simple fact that there are way too many people from developing country like ours moving to US, and not everyone can be accommodated ASAP. i think US has every right to do what it thinks is best for her, even if we don't agree with that,
And those who say its discrimination, discrimination is when people from Bihar are beaten up on the streets of mumbai cause they are taking jobs away from marathi manus. Had there been so many techies from around the world taking up jobs in India, we would have seen street lynching.

Just dropped a check for $5. I hope all of the remaining members do the same.
Mailing a check is just as good as a bill pay.
For those who are unaware as to what the "Bill Pay" option is, basically the Bill pay option is a great way to take advantage of your bank cutting a cheque as opposed to you cutting a cheque. That way you can write cheques without having to:
1) Actually write out a cheque
2) Spend money to post it (and take the extra effort to mail the cheque out).
Keep the contributions flowing.

If you are stuck at Atlanta PERM backlog center , please email your case number and explain them that your application has been pending for a LONG time and request them to help us get out of this grave situation. Also, please post on this thread after you have sent an email so that others can be motivated to do the same. We need to send as many emails as possible to get any positive feedback. I know that DOL mentioned that they will start processing our applications soon, but we need to keep up the pressure from our end so that it has some positive effect.
I know most of the people on this forum are not in this situation ..... but let's see how many can come out of this selfishness and help others by emailing / phoning DOL Atlanta to help other brothers who want to file AOS just like them...... The answer is "No" - my employer is also not willing to sign that form. They are saying that its against their policy to push Ombudsman or CIS for a I-140 which is pending for 15 months.
They are saying that the only thing they can do for me is "opening a service request" after 60 days of "Processing Date Update" Now Processing Date update is stuck @ Mar 22nd 2007 for last 4 months , so they are happy they are not obligated to do that either.
This is a huge Pain because 140 is actually employer petition and we are beneficiaries.
Lonedesi - Please advise, I'm ready to mail just the letter to CIS Ombudsman.
As mentioned in my previous post (http://immigrationvoice.org/forum/showpost.php?p=274156&postcount=32), it would not be of much help without completed DHS Form 7001.
If all you can do is send a letter, then be prepared to just receive a general response from the Ombudsman's office. They will never be able to look into your specific case and see if there are any reason for the delay in processing your case. They may not be obligated to specifically address this problem for us. They can just send you a standard response and move on without actually helping you.
Given your situation, I think you may as well take a chance and send the letter including all the details(A#, receipt numbers etc) provided on the DHS Form in your letter, so that they can atleast look into your case, if they want to.
