It is time now we ask USCIS about this information. More than DOS or DOL it is the USCIS who has all this information in their bags like how many applications they have from high chargeability countries, of which year and which categories. So we stop predicting and be ready for the real....
With all the revenue and system they have, do you think this is so tough to streamline? I doubt.

I agree with you. One of my friends got RFE regarding Birth Ceritificates and medical certificates. I would not be surprised if they ask me the same.
So, how did you submit the Birth certificate then? Can you please share the experience?
My brother managed to get one for me. the issue was that my BC had wrong date and first name (my uncle had reported my birth with that name which was never used again). My brother talked to the officials, gave affidavits, chai-paani etc and they agreed to correct date and put both first names with a slash(/) in between. phew ...what an experience dealing with the Indian beauraucrats.

I am really appalled at the responses for the facts I posted here on the forum. I apologize to all who are offended by the posts.However I strongly believe that my comments represent facts.Personally I do not believe an individual can "bash" a country. I have certainly erred with my presumption that my opinions/comments would be received with some maturity of thoughts instead of surging patriotic emotions.

Thank you karan007, pvhemanth, zappy, dvrao4, lp2007 and permfiling for the contributions. I am so happy that we were able to conclude this round with the help of only the junior members. Some of you have not posted much. Obviously, you found lot of things on this site that piqued your interest. I appreciate the fact that you did not hesitate to pull the trigger. Because of you, we can close this round and move to the final round.
I hope the final round starts with a person who visits this site regularly, find helpful suggestions and tips, and is generally happy with things moving in the right direction and knows IV is an important part of this process. Even though he supports the rally, he cannot come because he probably lives on the west coast, but would have definitely attended the rally if he or she were working in NJ, MD, PA, VA or any other neighboring states. He doesn�t have many questions to ask, but once in a while she does have a quick question, but rejects that idea because of the process involved. She knows that a user id is required to post any questions.

9years: So finally did you have to send the interfiling request, or they approved it automatically.
- My EB2 140 got approved 2 weeks ago (with July 03 PD), but still no LUD on my 485.
- I placed a Service Request last week on my pending 485, which resulted in a soft LUD on my EB2 140 but nothing on 485.

Well there is definite gain for people who came here earlier which is more fair system. For example, I came in USA in 12/1997 but my PD is 06/2005. If someone who came to USA in 2003 (after 5 years I came) and is lucky to apply GC...lucky to get his labor+140 approved, he would get PD earlier than me!!
It may not help at all.
Chances are once you make the arrival date as the priority date, USCIS/DOS would set the cut-off dates to reflect the earlier PD's. For example if it is now May 2001, it could retrogress to May 1995. I don't see any gains there.

I have just talked local Congresswoman's Office and I have talked to a staff member for 1 hour and she is helping me. She is going to call NSC and get to the root cause of this problem.

I missed the boat in 2007. I think the bigger point here is that people vent their frustration of their GC journey only in a blog hiding their identity. When it comes to real work of meeting people, most hide under their bed..
If the July 2007 fiasco hadn't happened, we wouldn't have had this mess. Most waiting on GC would have quit and gone home making the line shorter :rolleyes:

I think there is more smartness needed than luck in the greencard process. If you look at the posts in this thread there are some people that came to USA in 1990s and still waiting, while some that came much later are on their way to citizenship. Some got the EB2 route and are happy and some in EB3 have only gloom before them.
This in my opinion has helped smart folks among us:
- They applied for GC as soon as possible. Those who waited did not give importance to Greencard as soon as they started a job in USA are now paying for their mistakes. During the initial days of career I have seen people saying that GC is not important to them etc but when their H1B is about to expire they panic and get desperate for Green Card.
- Before pre-PERM era in 2005, smart folks took up jobs in states where labor certification had no backlog. They are now either waiting for citizenship or already citizens. On the other hand people in states like CA, NY etc suffered due to labor backlogs and far from getting greencard in hand.
- Any company can be good or bad for an individual. It it not a question of consulting vs fortune 500 or small vs big size of a company. Smart folks know what matters them the most when they join a company. When company sees them as a valuable asset, it applies for them. I have seen where company applied for GC as soon as the employee joined it. And I have seen posts where people had to wait for several years before company applied.
- People who took advantage of the Labor substitution got faster labors. Some could take advantage of EB2 labors and they are very fortunate. This is in no way endorsing the labor substitution rule, but in pre 2007 times nobody was protesting against it. This is a sad reality.
- Smart folks took the risk and changed jobs wth EB2 job requirements, so that they can file in EB2. Such folks with 2007 PD are happy today and people with 2003 PDs in EB3 will have to wait for a long time.
- If you read posts on this thread, many people have posted that they feel they are being screwed by their employer or lawyer. But hardly anyone has said they took any action against it. This is also a sad reality where we as a community have failed and will continue to suffer.
- Many folks have said that they thought they were in EB2. But found they are in EB3. This shows another weakness of our community and lack of awareness. IV forum tries to spread the awareness but unless an individual takes initiative, they will suffer.

While EAD filed during June/July 08 for Primary & Dependant got approved with 2-year validity. But, dependant daughter's EAD filed in Jan09 was approved last week with 1-year validity. Does it mean with PD of 10/05 AOS approval is coming in months? Any Thoughts?
