Just wanted to know your thoughts on this. CNN has launched the first ever cnn-youtube debate and the deadline to submit videos is 7/22.. Users have to basically upload their questions on youtube and some of these questions will be selected and democratic presidential candidates will have to answer these questions.
I know its kinda late, but why not upload videos on youtube asking questions about legal immigration to the candidates? i think it will be a great way of bringing out our problems further in the mainstream... if you think this is a good idea, we may have to act on it fast... we dont have much time.

Not really h1b is a different track all together. If 485 is denied and the denial is final - person is still free to work till h1b expires thats why lawyers say h1b is safer
This is exactly my lawyer mentioned, AOS deined, you are still good to continue work (and wind up in USA) till your H1(i-94) expires. Hence, it is deemed as "safety". Person gets time to windup before the final bye-bye.

That is not true, my lawyer who is very influential and he has some good contacts he told me that this year spill-over would be different form last year. I was stupid so didn’t believe him about July 2007, and paying it for now for not having EAD.
I know this is hard to believe especially if something comes from lawyer.

Who the hell are you EB2 people to decide that we cannot interfile? Anyway you guys can jump and crib, nothing is going to happen. There are some stupid morons arguing that Eb2's are more qualified, what a farce! Eb3 guys have been waiting longer than EB2 guys for the most part. It certainly is a bad news..

Just login to paypal directly and send in your contribution to donations@immigrationvoice.org. This info. is provided on the firts post of this thread as well. We had a member last week who setup recurring 20$ contributions through paypal
If I may suggest it may help our funding drive if we allow smaller contributions. (20$ or 10$) both recurring and one time.
I know at least a couple of people who would do a 20$ 2-3 times a year but won't do a $50. Anecdotal but may hold true for a lot more people.

I am glad to see sked A here. I have been following this forum for a long time now and there is nothing for healthcare prof though the discussions were very helpful. As I can see it, the july VB put benefits on those going through AOS but as a result those whom I know who are scheduled for interview in their home countries in AUg. was cancelled.
That is sad news!! I can just imagine how they feel, after waiting so long! Anyway lets hope something positive happens for the Oct bulletin.
A hospital I know is SO short of nurses they are offering them GREAT incentives to take on extra shifts. I mean it is an ACUTE shortage.

It means USCIS has pre-adjudicated your I-485 if it was filed before october 2008.
i thought it meant that you had to wait 4 months after your priority date is current to have any expectation of adjudication... no?

HR 5882 has the answer for the FIFO problem.
USCIS is pretty good with approving cased based on PD for 3/4th of the year and in the last quarter they for the "Hail mary" play and DOS gives a wide PD range during the last quarter for USCIS to play. Apart from recapturing wasted visa's HR 5882 also has an automatic recapture provision to avoid any future visa wastage. If this provision is in place then UCSIS/DOS will not be in a position to playing the "some how use up visa by sep 31" card to approve random cases.
Rather than focusing on HR 5882 many are still pondering about LUD's and sill day dreaming. The demand for visa's is much higher than the supply of visa's, it doesn't matter what new spillover policy USCIS adopts, it can only provide incremental improvements. For a quantum improvment in the situation we need a legislation and HR 5882 is the best option we have now.

How many pending applications are there?
How many new ones accumulating every year?
Are there enough recaptured visas to cover all?
Agreed that with more visa numbers, and no potential threat to wastage of visa numbers, USCIS has no incentive nor tricky cards to play to justify their random approval bursts.....but will that be enough to prevent them from doing so, just because they can? I mean this is USCIS we are talking about.....Even with laws/memos/rules already in place, they are violating them left and right....
Whats to say that they won't try to reassure people that they don't have to worry about out of order processing because
- there are enough visa numbers for all.
- Though people may see delays, they will eventually all get their GCs
- Its faster and easier if they just grab the first box that is on the top of the pile, and approve cases from there rather than spending very limited resources they have to try to dig thru the boxes to find the cases with oldest PD.
- It will just be a minor inconveneince to the applicants...Their waiting times would drastically reduce from several years to only couple of years.
Would that be acceptable to us then?

This is specifically for those people who have never contributed but feel like contributing but for some reason hesitate to pull the trigger. For all such people who start a monthly contribution of $50 and promise (not to me or anyone else but themselves) to keep contributing for at least the next 6 months, I am going to make a one-time contribution of $50 for every such person. I have a modest upper limit, which I will disclose after the first 10 new contributors.
So people, Sept 18th is approaching fast and IV needs your contribution. Now is the time.
The only requirement is that the member has never contributed before and starts a $50 dollar recurring contribution. For every two new contributors I will make a $100 one-time contribution. Moderators may verify my contribution.
This is great thinking and wonderful initiative. It is a lesson how we all can be creative and help others motivate. It reminds of a story. There were two teams US and Japanese. They each were divided into two groups each and made to stand facing each other. There was a imaginary line drawn and the goal of each team is to convince their team members on the other side of the line to cross over. US Team were never able to convince their team members to cross over and move to other side.
Japanese simply said to their team members on other side.. If you cross over we will also cross over.. and they won. As simple as it may sound here is a classic example shown by Milind. You rock Milind.
And you make me feel proud in being associated with you in this struggle for our cause.
I am also in the drive for funds with my indifferent colleagues. See you in DC.
